Sono state annunciate le nomination degli Emmy Awards 2024, il più importante premio della televisione mondiale, giunto alla 76ª edizione. Dal celebre El Capitan Theatre di Hollywood i passati vincitori degli Emmy Tony Hale e Sheryl Lee Ralph, insieme al Presidente della Television Academy Cris Abrego, hanno svelato le attese candidature.
Emmy 2024, le nomination delle serie
The Bear stagione 2 (già vincitore lo scorso anno) ha stabilito un nuovo record di nomination in un singolo anno nella categoria Serie Commedia con 23 candidature, superando il record precedente di 30 Rock che nel 2009 ne ottenne 22. Seguono Only Murders in the Building 3 con 21 nomination, Hacks 3 con 16, Palm Royale con 11 e Abbott Elementary 3 con 9. Completano l’ottina delle candidate a miglior Serie Commedia What We Do in the Shadows 5 (8 totali), Curb Your Enthusiasm 12 (4) e Reservation Dogs 3 (4).
Nella categoria Serie Drammatica c’è Shōgun è in testa con 25 nomination, davanti a The Crown 6 con 18; seguono a quota 16 Fallout, The Morning Show 3 e Mr. & Mrs. Smith, poi Slow Horses 3 a 9. Completano l’ottina per la miglior Serie Drammatica Il problema dei 3 corpi (6) e The Gilded Age 2 (6).
Tra le Miniserie domina True Detective: Night Country con 19 candidature davanti a Fargo 5 con 15, poi Ripley 13, Baby Reindeer 11, Lezioni di chimica 10, così come 10 per Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, unica tra quelle citate a non entrare però nella cinquina di miglior Miniserie. Sul fronte programmi tv si conferma invece leader assoluto l’inarrivabile Saturday Night Live con ben 17 nomination alla sua 48ª stagione.

Tra gli attori con più nomination quest’anno e già candidati in passato svetta Maya Rudolph con ben 4 candidature personali (Loot – Una fortuna, Saturday Night Live, Big Mouth), seguita a quota 2 da Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Jodie Foster (True Detective: Night Country), Donald Glover (Mr. & Mrs. Smith), Jon Hamm (Fargo e The Morning Show), Brie Larson (Lezioni di chimica), Jonathan Pryce (The Crown e Slow Horses), Andrew Scott (Ripley) e Kristen Wiig (Palm Royale e Saturday Night Live).

Al termine della cerimonia di annuncio, Sheryl Lee Ralph è stata sorpresa da Cris Abrego con la notizia della sua terza nomination come Miglior Attrice Non Protagonista in una Serie Commedia per Abbott Elementary.
Come annunciato in precedenza, i vincitori degli Emmy Jesse Collins e Dionne Harmon, insieme alla candidata agli Emmy Jeannae Rouzan-Clay di Jesse Collins Entertainment, torneranno come produttori esecutivi degli Emmy Awards 2024, per il secondo anno consecutivo. La cerimonia di premiazione, dal Peacock Theater, sarà trasmessa in diretta nella notte tra il 15 e il 16 settembre sulla ABC, mentre in Italia sarà poi annunciato (forse Sky?). I Creative Arts Emmy Awards (i premi alle categorie tecniche) si terranno sempre al Peacock Theater in due serate consecutive, sabato 7 settembre e domenica 8 settembre.
